Llanddarog Lighting Scheme
All White On The Night – Shining Success For New Lighting Scheme
Residents in Llanddarog, Carmarthenshire have seen the light. In fact you could say they’re all aglow with praise for their new street lighting scheme.
The busy A48 junction is benefitting from the latest white light technology following the replacement of the old style lanterns by Centregreat Ltd..
South Wales Trunk Road Agency (SWTRA) are agents to the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) for this section of the busy A48 trunk road. The old lighting was low pressure sodium on steel columns in the central reserve, the new scheme was designed using high pressure sodium, a whiter light, along with passively safe aluminium columns and installed in the verges.
SWTRA’s Electrical co-ordinator Meirion Williams, explains: “The junction at Llandarog is very busy and the improved lighting will make the junction much safer. Centregreat had a tight schedule to install the lighting during a four week period to ensure minimum disruption to holiday traffic using this busy trunk road to West Wales, and we were pleased to confirm that it was completed on schedule and within budget.”
Centregreats operations Director Richard Lewis confirmed :”The scheme gave us an interesting challenge with the traffic management layouts along with keeping existing lighting functioning for as long as possible. The teams on site worked well to ensure it was a complete success and with the advanced planning we proved that even on a tight schedule we can complete major projects to the clients satisfaction.” |
